An intervention specialist, also known as an interventionist, is a type of social worker who helps addicts find treatment. I work with individuals to assess and treat addictions to a variety of things, including alcohol, drugs, food, sex, and gambling. I work with addicts one-on-one or in groups to provide counseling, guidance, and education. I work with friends and family of an addict to assist the person seek treatment. This may take place in a private residence, my clinic, hospital, treatment facility, and or the community.
